2 of us launched at Ft. Spokane about 0730 Saturday morning. Started fishing about 5 miles north of the confluence on the main Columbia. Caught 2 bows right away (one with and one without a fin) then things went quiet. Caught just a couple more in the next 2 hours so we pulled up lines and motored downriver to Hawk Creek area. Action was better there. Water temp 51 degrees. Most productive offering was a chartreuse fly, (120 feet behind the planer board with 5/8 oz weight on mono) and the downrigger 22-32 feet deep. Also caught a few on an orange Uncle Bucks spoon (most at 24' on downrigger). Ended the day about 3PM, with 7 keepers, 4 released with unclipped fins and lost 4-5 more. And the fish got revenge with one hook embedded deep in a thumb while trying to remove the fly (and yes, the technique using monofilament line to remove an embedded hook does work). All in all, a beautiful, sunny day on the lake with decent action. Attached pics show our 2 most productive lures. We couldn't get anything on orange flies or rapalas today. Chartreuse was the key for us.
