Hey Gang;
Don't know what's wrong at Rufus but something isn't right. Water temp: 61*. Pretty prime. Fished hard all day above Nespelum Bay. Not near the net pens. Fished all the areas that we have caught fish in the past. Got two in the morning about 10. Only two strikes all day. Several other fly fishers have been down lately and were totally skunked. One pair of very good fly fishers fished at the net pens with no strikes. They usually will hook and release 20 fish per day.
Maybe the fish moved up or down steam?? Maybe the high temps this year ?? Or Nitrogen super saturation with the strong run off??
Any ideas?

i fish there quite a bit. The 2 lb. staple triploids are rarer this year. I did catch a 10 lb and two 6 lbs this spring but the smaller fish were not there. From past fall fishing, I catch triploids loaded with crayfish this time of year. I would go to the shallower gravel areas and see if the pattern repeats. The crayfish spawn in the fall.

By crayfish spawning, I mean they come out of hiding and make their clicking noises at night to attract mates.

I fished there yesterday as well and had the same experience. Dead! Did catch one burbot jigging in 30' of water.
