I've been out to Cassidy a good number of times since August. It's a great lake with easy access. For the past few weeks the Algae bloom made this lake look like thick pea soup. It has been thick and slimy and the fish just haven't seemed that active. I talked to a few guys a couple of weeks ago that told me that the Crappie are still active, but the trout are almost non-existent. During the algae bloom, I have not seen any fish breaking the water at all.

The past few weeks, I have spent more time at a few other lakes because things have been somewhat slow at Cassidy for Bass.

Yesterday, I only had a couple of hours to fish and since Cassidy is pretty easy access from my home and since it might be one of the last "nice weather" days of the year, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed...

I arrived a little after 3pm prepared to try a few different techniques. I was planning to start with the Wacky Rig, then try a crankbait, then go deeper with a Carolina Rig just to see where the fish were. Long story short, I never quit the wacky rig, because it never stopped producing.

Fishing from a Kayak, I normally like to fish the East side of the lake and the Southeast corner, but since I was limited on time, I started on the west side not far from the launch because I just wanted to get my line wet as soon as possible.

First cast: 19.5 inch Largemouth. It didn't strike on the fall of the lure, but after working it a bit. Great fight, and a nice fish.
A couple of casts later, I had a 15 incher.
I have been on a weeks-long string of catching dinks, so this was really exciting to me.

In about an hour and a half, I had brought in more than 10 Bass. Three of them were 15 or more inches. A few more were in the 12-14 inch range. If I didn't have an evening meeting, I would have stayed until dark and tried a little froggin on the top water.

Interestingly, I saw zero fish break the water surface. The water is still pretty murky with the algae, but has turned more brown than green, but visibility is not great.

That was probably the best hour and a half of fishing that I have had in quite a while. The quality of fish was far above the average that I would expect. It was a great way to break the dink-slump I've been in.

*Side note. Be careful in the parking area across the street from the launch. There are some sketchy characters coming and going into the overgrowth back behind and slightly north of the WDFW bathroom. People mostly wearing hoodies will park cars or bikes and walk into the trees for a while and then get back into the car and drive off. I try to park in a place where my car is as visible from the lake as possible. I've noticed this activity for the past couple of months. A few weeks ago, a patrol car pulled into the launch area where I was loading my Kayak on my car. I mentioned my concern, and it was definitely no surprise to him. He was aware of break-ins and drug activity in the area and told me to call 911 anytime I see anything worth reporting.

Good job on a tough lake! My son and I had a similar day earlier this summer. Once we figured out what they wanted we had one over 3#, and 4 over 2# in about 4 hours. On most days we would have been happy as heck with one of those fish! Best day we ever had there.

I had my vehicle rifled through a month or so ago in that parking lot. I had inadvertently left the doors unlocked. Nothing worth stealing, but they scattered everything around. Too bad, it's a nice little lake that's close to home.

Great day at Cassidy! Glad they are still biting...parking lot always seems to have cars in it and people pulling to launch side just to view the lake ..never had an issue with my car. I got some bass last year on Nov 9th there...thanks for the report.
