On Saturday I headed out solo to Lake Sammamish, which thanks lot of great information here has become one of my favorite fisheries. I hit the water about 8:15 and had my line in the water by 8:30. I tried a new spot on the south end of the lake away from my go to spots, just to try something new. Well after about 30 min, I decided to pick up and head over to my go to way points well west of the weather buoy and make some circles. I had my first bite in about 5 minutes on a green and chartreuse spinner from Reli Lures tipped with a bit of nightcrawler, down 35 feet on the wire in 60ish feet of water, it was a nice 16 inch cutthroat, I safely released. Reset, the gear and back over the spot and picked up and released a 13 incher. After about 30 minutes of no activity, I switched up to a blue and nickel God’s Tooth spoon, and over the next 30 minutes, had several drive-bys and then picked up 2 more cutthroat and a kokanee that was safely released to bring my morning to an end, with the biggest and (final) being a 17 incher (in the pic) on the God’s Tooth, that went home with me.

This is such an amazing fishery, I have consistently had luck from 25 to 35 feet on the downrigger, with 35 being my go-to as the most consistent, speed for me has been in the 1.3-1.5 range, and once I find a spot, it gets marked and I will circle. The same spots for me, have held fish consistently all spring and summer, and now into the fall. More pics next time!

Do you think a little electric-motored inflatable boat would make due on the big lake? Or just too much time, battery, and weather-potential to get out to where the fish are?

I used to fish the lake all the time with just a 12 foot boat and a trolling motor, and my good buddy Dj Butler fishes it all the time in his pontoon. always good to watch the weather but there is usually some hot fishing easily motor able from the launch. there is some great fishing opportunity here for any raft or boat on this lake!

my old profile (before I was a guide-sponsor of NWFR) is wafisherman20. if you go back to my older posts in there you will see setups and success had with my little aluminum boats and Minn Kotas.
