Hit up Tapps first thing this morning looking for some smallmouth action. We were the second ones on the lake and started out fishing some rip rap to see if anything had come up shallower yet. Couple dinks here so took off out to a deep point we have had good luck on in the past. I had never fished a ned rig but today was the day to figure this simple bait out. We started off in about 25' of water and after a couple casts it got real heavy after a fall, fish on! It was definitely heavier than anything we'd caught recently and put up a pretty nice fight until my son slid the net under it. Couple quick pics and a quick weight and back to the depths it went, 4.2 pounds! After a bit it was my sons turn on his drop shot rig and he landed a nice stout 3 pounder. Same spot continued to produce with a couple half pounders, another 4.3 pound football and a 2 pounder to round it out. It died off so we tried a couple other spots down by the bridge then back up to a big flat where we ended the day with a few more smaller fish. Overall it was a great morning!

Great report, we were also on Tapps yesterday (Tracker 190 TX) and had tough conditions thinking they had moved in shallow already, not the case. We ended up catching 1.25 and .75 with deep divers EOD.
