My daughter is in town and had been planning to ride along with me on a fishing trip. She doesn't fish, but much like my wife, she can manage to get some extra shut eye in while she's on the boat.
We were on the water by 6:15 am on Saturday. I went to some familiar water that I hadn't fished since early last year. Within the first 5 minutes I missed a nice fish in the 8-9 pound range right at the boat, ten minutes later I landed and released a 3 lb smallie. Not a bad start. About 20 minutes into the day, I had to head back to the bathroom at the launch so she could take care of some business. Now that's a little change to my usual outing. Once the transaction was complete, I headed back out. It took only about another half hour to get bit and hooked up again. Tis time the fish would win, as it cam unhooked before I got a good look at it. That would be the end of things for Saturday. After being on the water for about an hour and a half I got a call from my wife. Her father has been in the hospital and was having a rough day. We loaded the boat and headed home to be with the family.
Things got a little better for my father in law and my wife encouraged us to try again on Sunday. We were back on the water at 6am sharp. This time it took a while longer to rustle up some action. It wasn't until about 9:30 that I caught and released the first fish. That would be the little guy in the photo. He measured out to 13 1/2 wopping inches. I'm not sure what he thought hew was going to do with that 1 oz spinner bait. We moved on the another north dnd bay where I found the other pike in the photos. This one was about 25" and quite scrappy. This fish to hit a bright colored spinner bait. I thought I was on to something but that would be it for the day. We headed in at about 2:30. Not the most productive day of fishing but still better than staying home wondering what would have happened if I had gone.

We battled the wind something terrible. Every time we tucked into a bay out of the wind, it would change direction and blow us around pretty hard again. Chock that trip up to a losing effort against mother nature. I did find a bay with some nice fish in it but they only wanted to follow back to the boat and no bite.
Better luck next time I guess. Fish were all caught in about 10 feet of water. Saw temps from 59-64 throughout the day.
Incidentally. My daughter talked me into starting up an instagram account. If anyone is interested in following the name is thepikesupremacist
