I'm not sure when was the last time i boated on Lake WA. Maybe 2-3 years ago. Launched at Mercer Island and started working my way down south towards Coulon. Started off with a topwater, but no dice. 2nd toss with dropshot and fish on, but it breaks off at the hook! Didnt feel big but that sucks. Continue along and land me a dink SMB.
Started skipping a wacky and land me a couple of rockbass.
Observation is lots of weed growth on the lake. Hard to target docks since they are so full and thick. So I was concentrating on some docks, flats, and mainly points.
I had on a double with my jerkbait with 2 dink SMB. 1 popped off by the boat. Also had what looked like a trout or maybe it was a squawfish on the jerkbait. It came up and slapped the surface and lure came off. Just saw a flash of silver.
The biggest fish today was maybe 1.5-1.75 post spawn SMB on a jerkbait off a point. Caught 1 smaller but was about the same weight that was thick and fat. Only 4 bass over 1# today. About 10 or so smaller. Most fish caught with the jerkbait, but I caught bass with dropshot, swimbait, and wacky too. Did spot a nice 2.5-3# SMB. Was stalking it for a while but it wouldnt bite. Just kept cruising around taunting me. Also saw a catfish suspended about 4-5' down in 10' of water. It was just staring at me. It even turned and watched me as I went by. That seemed weird to me.
One of the smallies I caught looked beat up, then i saw this coming out of it's hole. Is this tape worm...????
Also, while hitting some docks, I found this area that has weird bottom cover. There's no weed growth, but it looks a timber yard tossed all it's salvage into the water. What's the deal with this? Tried to take a picture through my sunglasses, which worked well enough I guess lol.
Will probably hit up the lake again and explore around a bit.
