I tossed and turned in bed because of pain, waking before the alarm. I didn’t feel much like fishing but I asked my brother Richard and Kim (pinkpole) to come out with me. So after a couple acetaminophen and naproxen plus a cup of coffee I was ready to go. We started about 6:30am and quit at 10am.
It was predicted to be breezy at 6-8mph with gusts to 13. Mostly sunny and I even put sunscreen on. But in order to find the sun we had to leave the lake and head north. The breeze was only at the west end of the lake and no gusts. The water temperature was 65.
After getting new batteries the electric motor worked. Kim got the first fish when using a Patriot which we have only had results on Summit and Alder lakes. Richard used his favorites Pistol Pete’s but they didn’t produce so he switched to a Bloody Mary for his caught trout. He also was longlining at about an ounce. Kim later switched out to pink. I used green black and the Orange Squiddy which all my fish came on it.
It was best when I stayed in 50 to 60 feet of water and we were about 15-30 feet down. For me this was my birthday trip and I was rewarded with my first kokanee of the year and the first at Clear in 2 years. It was about 8-9inches.
I didn’t get a lot of video because one battery was dead in the camera (I forgot to turn it off) and with the couple of tangles between the lines I unhooked the one good camera and forgot to put it back on…remember one year older.
