We started at 6:30 on Sunday. Straight away we went to the north side of lake casting all types of baits. Didn't see anything. Traveled back to the south side. Flipping docks and off of points. we got this one in the last ten minutes of fishing with the smallest lure we used all day(fifteen foot of water off of a point). This was my buddies first musky landed. all in all pretty average fish but the fight this one put up was pretty strong compared to others in the past. Really lively fish. Muskie fishing this year has been pretty good so far, just gotta put the time in.

Any musky is a good musky. I agree on putting in the time. They don’t call them fish of a thousand cast for nothing. Although the wife and I went out for a couple hrs Monday night and she got a small sub 30” one on her very first cast and I had a jumbo follow on the very next cast. Thought it was going to be an epic night but then skunkage for the next 2 hrs.

yeah I looked at some of your pictures from this year. I'm glad to see other people out there specifically going for the elusive guys. Looks like you have been pretty active with some success that's for sure. Yeah putting the time in is key and being a local of the lake doesn't hurt for knowing where fish should be. Yeah this last trip we had that skunk feeling coming over the boat, but we stuck it out an extra ten minutes and it was well worth it. Hoping for something closer to 40 in the next week. Good luck out there RED. I am sure I will see you at some point.

Stop and say hi if you see a dude in a Skeeter with ugly green carpet and a chunky yellow lab. There are a few other guys out targeting muskies but 9 out of ten boats are fishing bass. The main reason I posted was to promote the fishery. It’s an awesome trophy fishery that I fear that if there isn’t enough interest, the state might stop putting fish in Tapps. There was no musky tournament here last year that I know of either.

Will do Red. That is the exact reason i am posting so much this year. Just want to promote musky fishing on Tapps. We don't want to lose these fish in Tapps, since we havent had trout stocked in 30+ years. There is a musky tournament coming up soon. Will you be participating? I would imagine Tapps is probably one of the more challenging fisheries to land musky in this state. Saw that you got a 30+ the other day. Nice looking fish!
