Fished the dam area for the first time. Quality of fish caught was impressive! All were coho/silvers I was told by some of the locals.
Bait fishing sukked.
3/8oz hammered silver Steelee spoon was the productive lure of the evening for me. Shallow and fast retrieve.
Last fish caught slammed my black rooster tail the second it hit the waters surface.
Fish fought like a warrior...will be one of those fish a person always remembers as a favorite encounter.
Not sure how much it weighed but it sure made my reel scream. Locals there said they had never seen a bigger one...it was certainly the biggest silver I ever caught.

While your selfie skills need some work - I can't argue that's a beautiful fish! Thanks for the report. I love that lake just at the upper end of my day trip trips so I have to figure out a good over night trip timing.

That's a rainbow. You could tell by how small the mouth is. Coho or landlocked salmon have mouths that past the eye. Also landlocked coho have darker gum line

Was a tough selfie...my arms weren't long enough to get it all in.
I thought it was a rainbow too, but the 3 locals there kept saying it was definately a silver.
I couldn't care less....either way that fish fought like crazy, it never did give up.
This fish got my respect....regardless of skin color! lol

Turns out it was a Cowlitz river hatchery released steelhead. ..according to a fisheries officer. Estimated weight is 6.75 pounds. Sure explains the extraordinary battle to land it.
