First off, I confess.. I did not actually fish the pond. However, this is a very strange, very small pond that has not been reported on in many years.
So, just wanted to give some Intel. on the water, if you decide to give it a go.
I got to the ponds edge, realized I had brought my ‘Broken 6 wt. fly rod’ —. Case looks just like my good 3 wt. Dangs.. I was pissed.
Anyhoo.. on to the Intel. You can park on the side of Bullfrog road. The access is extremely small and tight. If you are lucky, you might jam a small kayak in there. I was in a float tube, and about 18” space to literally fall backward into the water, into tube.
Water clarity is super clear. The deepest part of pond is right at the put-in, about 8-10’. Most of the rest of pond is 2-3’ deep. The place looks SUPER fishy, I admit. I very closely inspected everything, did not see any signs of fish, no rises, no baitfish, no shows in the clear water.
I was there 0700, surprised at not a single early AM rise on the surface.
My intentions are to come back, to hide a Geocache, and this place is perfect. Great bird watching, and beautiful surroundings though.
