well folks, sammamish continues to be amazing!

combined report: both days were combo Smallmouth/Cutthroat trips.

in the mornings we have been targeting SMB's using crank baits, drop shots, and senkos. the bite has been best on the senkos for us, the fish hit on the drop after you work it a few times with a simple flutter action. Whacky rigs have been the preferred method. we have been fishing an area behind the sunken forrest on the lake on the southwest side of the lake, and we are yet to catch the monster who lives there. every morning we see a solid 4 or 5 lb smallie surfacing and performing acrobatics for us while he is chasing salmon smolts, but not matter what we throw he refuses to bite! senkos, jerk baits that imitate smolts, cranks, topwater, none of it! always fun to see him though, and we are finding some good fish anyway.

the cutthroat bite continues to be hot on the lake and we are finding willing biters using Reli Lures diamond flash spinners and Kokanee flies, God's tooth spoons rigged kokanee style, and Old Goat lures OG1 1.8" plugs.

the fish are moving around in the water column a bit, most of our action is coming 20-45 feet down but we are also catching some at the surface. as soon as you mark fish on the depth finder, dropping down to them seems to get you bit. they are liking depth changes quite well.

we still have lots of dates available in May and June for combo trips, panfish, and trout on lake sammamish, as well as kokanee on lake Stevens! book now to get your preferred day to hit the water.

tight lines,
Captain Paul

Paul, we were out Saturday morning in the white NR Seahawk. We ended up with 6 Cutthroat; 4 of which were over 17 inches!!! We strictly used brads Kokanee mini-cutplugs stuffed with a oily tuna concoction and tipped with a piece of night-crawler. Fish on!!
