Wanted to target the not so recently planted Steelhead in Sprague Lake. Over the course of 2 days my friend Noah and I trolled over the entire lake in search of them, and had very little to show for it except some video footage.

We used Kekeda Trolling Flies in Orange and Black, with WiggleFin Action Discs, and a few other various wedding rings and spoons. Trolling speeds from 1.5 to 2.5, at all depths, produced 1 fat trout. The bite was just off.

The banana probably didn't help.

No recent steelhead planted in Sprague (according to the WDFW stocking reports):https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/plants/weekly/

I happened to be present almost three years ago at the Sprague Lake WDFW launch to witness the stocking of summer run steelhead smolts from W. WA. The drivers said, "Enjoy them when they grow up, because thats it". Unfortunately, the Sprague Lake Master Plan is for it become a warm water fish lake.

I did manage to boat one here this spring. I actually prefer the spokane strain footballs as their meat is better and they grow larger for a given length. This Lake will grow big fish no matter what they are. I personally wouldn't mind a good warm water fishery around this area, I have 13 beautiful publicly accessible lakes within 35 minutes of my house and 11 of those are managed for trout.

Anyone know if the WDFW launch has the docks in the water? Weren't in a couple weeks back and I'm not sure I can launch without them. Thanks.

The dock was in back in March when we shot this video... just the first one. Not sure if they've put the 2nd half out yet or not.
