With more calls from the IRS coming in, Al felt it was time to hit the mattresses and go in to hiding. I had not realized the amount of stress there was in the boat while harboring a fugitive. Fortunately 2 of my grandsons were able to join me today. The lake level appeared to have risen 2 feet since Tuesday resulting in a deris field floating on the water.
We had lines in the water by 8:30 pulling slow death rigs with green, gold and chartreuse beads and silver and gold smile blades. It took about 20 minutes to find our first fish then it remained pretty steady all morning. We caught about 20 eyes, all C&R. Sean added a good sized bullhead and a 14 inch perch to the mix. We caught fish in 18-23 FOW trolling at 1.0-1.2 mph. Water temp was 45*. There were about a dozen boats fishing in the same area and it appeared everyone was catching fish. The fish today were slightly bigger with the largest 17”.
Despite some unexpected rain today it was a great morning fishing with my grandsons and especially sharing in their delight of catching fish. It was also nice to be able to take pictures today since no felons were on board.
