My fishing partner and I fished the north end of the big lake once again this morning. After having experienced what I would call good fishing last week for nice size Cutthroat, we were anxious to give it another try again this week with the hope of doing a repeat performance. We immediately headed for the area off McAleer Creek where we had our best luck last week. Rather than being redundant, all factors that led to our fishing success last week were applied again today. We found the fishing today to be a bit slower than last week, however, one fish that we hooked and brought aboard our boat more than made up for the smaller number of fish that we encountered. It measured 23 1/2 inches. It had beautiful colors. It put up a heck of a fight. Very fortunately, that fish was hooked solidly with the double hook set up that comes with the Ace Hi Fly Junior. The other 2 Cutthroat that we took home were 14 and 18 inches. In 4 hours of fishing time, we hooked and lost a couple of other nice size fish. As was the case last week, once we gutted our fish, their bellies were found stuffed with partially digested small size fish. Although it was a bit cool this morning, It was a great day to be out on the lake.

Boyscoutman, I'm just guessing but I would imagine that 23 1/2 inch Cutthroat we took home yesterday probably had a dressed weight of around 3 1/2 to 4 pounds. That fish had a very large girth. It had been feeding very heavily on small fish.

After thinking about it, I decided to buy a couple of the Ace Hi Fly Juniors. (You can never have too many lures)! The only Ace Hi Fly Junior blue splatter back on the silver horde web site that is pre rigged is the kokanee lure. Is that the one you like?

I fish Lake Sammamish since that is so convenient for me. It's good fishing although the cutts are smaller than Lake Washington. I generally am a catch and release guy unless they are injured which means I usually take one home...

Ben, the Ace Hi Fly that my partner and I have used with good success on Lake Washington's Cutthroat is the Junior size Kokanee which comes pre rigged with double hooks. Its the blue spatter back #344. We douse the head end only in Smelly Jelly Trout Feast. Its important not to apply the scent to the four wings of this lure or to the embedded tinsel that surrounds the four wings as that will distort its action. Its important to make sure the Ace Hi Fly has a fluttering action behind the Mack's silver w/UV Sling Blade. We like to fish this combination with mono at least 180 feet behind the boat with our downriggers set at between 40 and 50 feet. Cutthroat can spook easily in the very clear lake water. Hope this helps.
