Was out testing some new plugs that I just got in the mail and was excited to see how they worked. Went to a place where I caught a few Cutt’s at and enjoy a nice calm full moon Fishing day.
Started at Sunrise with Orange was my start up color. Nailed a Rainbow right away, nice sized one about 16” and fat, but shook loose after the initial jump. Great start for the new plug!
Nailed another Bow about 14” but no Cutt’s and then not much action till after noon. Tried the shallow part of the lake and get nailed. Huge Cutt, biggest one to date about 20-21” and over 2 lbs. Netted it on the right side of my toon and as I lifted out of the water it flops out of the net because it was a bit too large for my net. The plug had already come unhooked because it was barbless and I gave the line slack. Darn! I just wanted to see that one better.
As the sun came out I switched to an area that I have done well as the day goes on and was confirmed by anther angler that was working the area and getting a hit every time thru the area. I made two passes and nothing. I made a quick switch to a #1 Dick Nite Black/Silver Spec Spoon which I had caught a few a Bows with before and get slammed in that area. At first I thought it was one of the bigger Lilly pads because how far the rod bent, but it was a 18-19” Cutt.
The next 3 passes (all the same direction as I circled back) I get slammed all three times getting two of the three. One more Cutt and one more Bow. It’s cool to see a Black colored lure work well. Most would never buy one.
I ended up with 5 Cutt’s (one on a TM) and 3 Bows. For reference, the bottom seam of my net is 16” so this is how I guesstimate length. I left at 2pm...long day.
