The day looked good and not cold, so decided to go to Beaver with my son. Well, Beaver is not my preference given the amount of times i got skunked here, but of the stocked lakes not too far from home, this is the best option.

The first 3 hours were frustrating. We trolled many different lures and jigs, colors, scent... got nothing, nada. Not even a little nibble. Since the fish were jumping all over the place, we tried using bobbers and still nothing. Wax worms, nightcrawlers, cured corn... nothing, nada. And the fish were still jumping everywhere.

It had been 3 hours, my son was bored and started complaining. I then decided to give one last shot before going home and started to do some bottom fishing. That was the right call as after 10 min we got a fish!
It was like giving RedBull to the little kid, and myself.... we got excited as the next 2,5 h hours were lots of fun. We lost a few fish, but ended up with both our limits.

The fish were mostly small, a couple we actually didn't even feel the bite, just a few shakes when we started pulling the line to cast again.

Well, maybe my personal Beaver curse is gone... not only didn't get skunked, but actually got my limit, finally.

Sounds like some quality time with your son. Nice job switching things up until you found something that worked. A beautiful day to be on the lake regardless.
