So after a month of straight remodeling the house then a month gone to CA., I spent Saturday rebuilding the Carb on the kicker motor in hopes of getting out on the river for Springer's. Not that I have heard many reports, I am just hooked on the river.
The day started well, we got a late start thanks to St. Patty and after a nice drive to Kalama, we realized that we left the lead box and the thermos sitting on the fishing bench in the garage. Well since the heaviest thing on the boat after that is a hand full of 1/2 oz. weights and a few 1 oz. bottom bouncers we decided to pull plugs and small spinners with no flashers. This worked great for the kid, he managed to put two in the boat, of course they were the size of your hand. Sorry no pictures of the monsters as I didn't want them out of the water or handled any more than necessary.

Even with the lack of appropriate gear, we still had a good time, the kicker ran flawlessly and we did some exploring, tried a few new things and we did see three fish caught (not counting the kids little baby fish). One off anchor and the other two trolling.

I fished 3/20 just below Kalama. Saw one net, heard of one guide getting 2, no love for the 3 of us. But calm and sunny, but cccccold in the am.
We trolled dead fish.....
