Headed out to Beaver for the last of 3 fall/winter plants which was slated for the 20th but was actually the 18th I see. Planned on getting a few hours in after work on Tuesday the 21st, but just was not feeling well to be out there. Wish I would have gone now that I see the plant was on the 18th.
I launched about 11:15am to avoid the really cold morning and possible black Ice on the drive out there. Maybe 7 cars in the lot when I got there. Headed straight down to the opposite end of the lake to some spots that I did very well at the first two plants as the fish seemed to school up there. Must have made 7 trips around before my first fish which came off at the boat. No worries as I practice CAR with barbless single hooks. I was working two UL rods, one a Kiwifish and the other with a Needlefish to see what depth they might be at.
Not one hit on the needle fish and and only 3 strikes all day. I tried a variety of colors that have done me well and nothing was doing. Lost one at the boat, lost one after two jumps and one pul down with no hook up and I was off the water at 2:45pm.
I saw a a guy get two on a fly trolling slowly who knows how to catch fish and one caught near the launch by powerbait guys in a raft.
No where near the same results that I had from Fishing the first two plants where double digits happened on back to back days. Must be the colder water temp.
Happy Holidays....May 2018 be even better than 2017 for everyone!
All strikes were on a very slow troll with about 60 ft of line out on a Black with Silver Flecks KFish.
