Here is the report of my yearly fall salmon trip. This year I fished the Snohomish river, unlike past years when I have fished the Cowlitz. Let's get started with the report. That morning the guide picked me up from my house and with him were Shane and CJ. We left immediately to drive up north an hour to get some salmon. We arrived at the ramp around six which was located up the Snoqualmie river a bit. As we got on the water we went of to go and try to catch some fish. One of the other guys on the boat(Jeff) had a lucky hat that flies out of his hand into the Snoqualmie River. We go back to look for it quite a bit and we could not find it so we gave up and went down river to fish. We fished the drift every one else was fishing and no one was getting anything. We saw 3 fish total out of 20 boats. We were doing every single method we had on the boat, free-drifting eggs, casting plugs, and spinners and out of 5 hours of fishing there was nothing but one fish that broke off a spinner. After this, we decided to move upriver.
We saw another boat land a fish and that was it. We put our time in and could not get anything to bite. We saw lots of items floating down the river and we had no idea what they were from. As going up the river to do another drift we see a boat anchored in a log pile. We headed over to see what was up. There had been 2 old ladies that flipped there kayaks got stuck under the logs. Luckily that other boat was there. We returned all of their items and we kept fishing. After a few more drifts I noticed something in the water. It was Jeffs lucky lamiglas hat!!!! I grabbed the net and scoop it up onto the boat. Jeff seemed very pleased to have his hat back.
The next drift we hooked up to a chrome coho that we brought to the boat in no time. Then after that, it was 1 fish for every drift. WE COULD NOT KEEP EM OFF!!!!!!!! The fishing turned on and we were the only boat catching. It was amazing. I have never experienced coho fishing that was this good. We hooked up to over 14 fish in short order and missed many others. This was a great trip that I will never forget. Thanks to our guide for putting us on the fish and thank you to Jeffs hat for being so lucky.

I'm pretty sure its selective gear rules on the Snoqualmie. No bait or scent, single barbless ....

THere were over 20 guides out there fishing eggs so I would assume it is not selective gear rules

My copy of the Sport Fishing Rules say the same thing - selective gear rules for the Snoqualmie. What am I missing??

Is this report for the "Snohomish River" as listed in the report heading, or the "Snoqualmie River" mentioned in the report text? Maybe he mixed up the names and meant to say "Snohomish River" in the report text and not the Snoqualmie River. Plus, I would think the guide would know better than to let his client fish with non-permitted gear.

We launched on the Snoqualmie and ran down to the Snohomish. Sorry for the confusion

Nice work. I had a similar experience also. Couldn't keep my eggs on as they kept getting hit nonstop. Limited out within the hour of my first hookup

the boat launch is at High Bridge on the Snoqualmie, it is a short trip to the confluence of the Snoqualmie and Snohomish/Skykomish.
