I had fished Tarboo Lake a couple times years ago and got skunked and have wanted to try it again for a long time. I had mentioned it to my Number 1 fishing Partner for the past (Almost) 60 years - Son Don. He called me this morning and asked it I still wanted to fish Tarboo. Yes!

We hooked my blue boat and we took off to give Tarboo a try. There were 5 rigs in the parking lot but only 1 boat trailer. I guess the others were hunters and ATV riders. Later a couple of skilled trout anglers showed to fish for trout - A man and wife team with a nice old High Lake boat. He said they limit every time they come there. We watched for just a few minutes and seen them catch 6 trout. We believe him.

Don and I were not after trout - We were looking for a few largemouth bass. We fished long and hard and tried several lures. I had a couple hits on a plastic worm and finally landed a 12 incher on a black jig. My trusty old camera failed me and we got no pics.

It was a beautiful day on the water and I got to add a new personal lake record to my list. It was my first new personal lake record since I rolled the old odometer past 88 years. At 88 even a 12 incher can make your day if you are fishing with your favorite fishing partner on a nice fall day.

congrats on another personal lake record Bob! BTW, I ordered your new book, should arrive soon. Everyone, Bob has co-authored a new book on bass fishing in Washington. Check it out and support one of our own (and benefit from his vast knowledge of bass in Washington!) https://www.amazon.com/Washington-Bass-Panfish-Guide-Fishing/dp/0965211630/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1508119379&sr=1-1&keywords=bob+johansen+Bass

Thanks Amx - There were 2 other bass anglers at Tarboo today that regularly fish bass from this lake and they were skunked. It was indeed slim pickings.

Today I caught one Largie shallow, very shallow. Then when I was packing up to go home, I like to throw out the dropshot and let it sit while packing up, when I picked it up there was a little largie on it, so I got 2. WooHoo.

Great that you got out there Bob. I've never fished it. Maybe next season

You would really like this little lake Jerry. Almost every inch of shoreline looks like great bass habitat and there are no shoreline homes -- And, no gas engines are allowed.

Nevermind the lake report... Bob's got a book out!!
Just ordered it from Amazon. So glad that you have taken the time to share your knowledge base and history on our WA. lakes.
Thanks, Bob.

Thanks Quadfather. Much of the credit belongs to my co-author Dave Shorett. He has been a long time avid fly fisherman and became instantly hooked on bass fishing when he hooked a lunker bass on a fly.
