Well, with the blazing Summer heat finally gone the crisp fall mornings upon us, it's safe to say the lake is finally back to normal.

Fish were rising all over the lake which gave me a good indication to start trolling shallow. Set the wire to 15ft but no takers. Wasn't until I dropped to 30 ft when I started getting consistent bites. 50-60 ft of water happened to be where these cutts were hanging out at.

Tied up a green hoochie and a UV smile blade. 16 inches of leader, tipped the hooks with a piece of night crawler and it was game on. Before I got any bites I had a pink Wiggle hoochie that I ran for a good 30 min. Switched out my gear and instantly got hits. The Cutts are full of energy and gave a nice good fight. Hurry out while the weather is nice and get you some fall Trout!

Hey DJ,

Thanks for the great report. What part of the lake were you fishing? I will be giving Sammamish a whirl tomorrow morning.

Cutthroat “catching” on lake Washington is awesome at times!!! But eating them can be another story… Yes they are tasty but there is a warning to only eat them once a month due to lake WA being contaminated with PCBs, dioxins, pesticides and flame retardants that were banned decades ago.
Unlike sea-run cutthroats; lake Washington cutthroats stay in the lake feeding and growing only to spawn in local rivers and creeks.
Or am I wrong?

I have eaten them several times but follow the recommended consumption guide lines…. I’m still alive and my skin is as radiant as ever… LOL…..

You are correct, there are true sea run but most are spawning in the lake, so I have been told by wdfw biologists.

Well Dj another fine lake report well done . nice looking group of fish too, I finely made it back to the lake after waiting to recover from the back & heart stuff and had a few fun outing as well . working the other end of the lake , catching same kind of fish , the UV blades and dodgers do good as well learned real quick the combos making catching uber fun again. Only wished I could have been out on the pond as well, on Sunday WOW ! could it have been any nicer ? see ya on the pond .

Sammamish was very good to us last week. Fish were scattered but willing. Orange/yellow Assassin and Sling Blade flasher, worm chunk did the trick, 35-45 feet, East Lk Sammamish Pkwy side.
