We arrived at the launch at about 8:30 am. So crowded - two boats already in the water! Hahaha. Saw one skier out, but nothing near us. So I figured it would be a great day on the water. Started working on the East side. Lots of dinks at the first spot. Saw lots of fish on the sonar and camera, but nothing of any size. Moved further North, and nothing at all. Some fish seen and a few jumped, but no bites. And so we headed further North again. Went to a known perch hole to see if they were stacked in as normal. On the way in, saw a lot of fish at around 45 feet near the bottom. Stopped and got a few pecks, but no connections. Went in shallower and saw lots of fish. Both on the sonar and camera again. And no perch at all. Rock bass, SMB, and some pumpkin seeds all over the place. But apparently they weren't the biting kind. Like the ad used to claim - "they don't bite, they don't even light". Tried mostly DS and a CR. After awhile and a few shakers that threw the hook themselves, I caught one decent one as pictured. I wouldn't say I felt a strike, more of it was just there as when you hang onto a log. Never really ran. Very lethargic. And that was the majority of the connections the rest of the day. All just felt like someone stepped on your line and didn't go anywhere.

Moved over to the West and more dinks and some strike outs in a few other locations. Finally finished on South end with one good fish on, but never saw him. Ran for a bit and spit the hook. Again, just like hanging onto a log that slowly took off.

Last ditch effort on another area near the launch. Found a pile of fish at 40 feet. Some slams and pecks, but no connections. Headed back in at 2:30. Was really hot without any wind for the most part.

Thanks for the report. Nice fish! I know DS is "drop shot"... What's a CR?

CR is a Carolina Rig. It has the plastic on the end with a weedless hook embedded and some weight on the line above it.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to give it a try.

The ONE Bass I caught on Sammamish yesterday was VERY energetic. I tried 3 areas, and only one bite on a Smallie. That's it. (the 20" squawfish doesn't count) Bunches today, and all energetic.

Oh ya, the squawfish was caught on a spinnerbait.

The smaller bass were plenty energetic. Fortunately, many of them shook themselves loose when they went aerial. Entertaining, but I was looking for some bigger fish. Just surprised at how the biggest one fought like a walleye. I have spinnerbaits, but somehow they never get used.

Looks like a pretty nice SMB at least. Hope to make it out there soon and get some nibbles, but getting old sucks.

I too have a small box full of spinnerbaits but I haven't touched them in a while, lol.

If you see me out there, come over and say Howdy. I found plenty of fish, just tight lipped for the day. Maybe we should organize a swap meet for fishing gear. We could all probably open a tackle store with the stuff we rarely use.

I sometimes wonder why I have all these boxes full of lures and crap. 98% of them probably don't get touched throughout the year, LOL. I know for a fact I still have some lures that are new in package that haven't touched touch yet. *sigh*

And will do. Name is John btw.
