Went back out in my Hobie on the lower Snohomish below the HWY 9 bridge. Yes, the run is winding down, but there are still fish in the lower river. Some fresh fish are still pushing in with the tides, and pinks spawn anywhere from the mouth all the way up, so there are quite fish that hold in the lower tidal influenced part of the river. You won't make 3 casts and get your 3, but the fish are still there.
I launched from the Snohomish launch and pedaled down below the HWY 9 bridge, anchored up and began casting. Once again using Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoons. Last report I explained the set up, and actually first clip of this video I show it. Its a cast and slow 2-3 crank on the reel retrieve, then a small twitch, almost like you are jigging, except that you do not stop reeling in. Very effective lures and method. I got my 3, lost 2 and had 2 more strikes with no hook set. In that time I saw 1 other fish caught around me, and it was by someone trolling up and down that stretch. Try the spoons, cast and retrieve like I showed in the previous video, and use the set up I show in today's video.
Today was 1 decent hen about 5lbs, an buck that also went about 5lbs, and another buck that came in at just under 7lbs and 24 inches. I caught 2 on the pink top God's Tooth, and 1 on the Orange Top God's Tooth. I was 2/3 on the pink top and 1/2 on the orange top. I thought I was done, but these fish are just so danged fun to catch, and I never mind filling up my freezer with fish to smoke.
I am beginning to hear rumors on the water about a coho here and there winding up in a net........
First clip of the video I show the set up for casting the God's Tooth Spoon as shown to me by Elgin Fishing... It works, I ain't messin' with it! Next 3 clip are the fish I landed. It's a chore in a kayak sometimes, but it makes it that much more fun too!
