Every Dog has his day, but sadly it wasn't my day! :(
It was uber-packed combat fishing and about 15-20 pulled out throughout the morning. I had one hit, but didn't set the hook in time.

The worst part is all the garbage they leave behind.

The really worse part is that people fishing jigs static on the bottom are flossing. Not intending to throw shade at seattlepat, but rather at the fishery as a whole. This whole mess should be either shut down or specificially designated as a flossery. It should not just be ignored as it leaves the impression that this is ok elsewhere.

For those that don't fish there and think it's just flossing, you're totally wrong. I've fished jigs there as well as eggs. They WILL pick the jigs up and I've had several that slam the jigs right when you cast them - that being said, the majority of the guys that catch a LOT of them ARE flossing, but that doesn't mean everybody does. They aren't charging the $20/day any longer, but in my opinion it was better then because there were fewer people and those that came respected the rules of fishing more (also, sani-cans at the entrance to the trail and a fish cleaning station with running water.

BTW, don't use braided line or you'll get a lot of enemies there. It cuts everybody else's line as well as waders. Use 20lb. mono. If you fish eggs, fish at the far downstream end of the pilings or under the bridge. either use a float or fish the bottom with an 18" leader and a ball of eggs the size of your fist. The kings RARELY hit the eggs like a steelhead would but rather pick them up slowly and move them. You have to have your line tight, and you'll see the line start to move. Yank hard and it will feel like a sack of wheat on the end if you have a king.

Yes indeed, the fishery is great and those guys are nuts! Its a fun for all party! Don't knock it until you try it..... Kings fight ! I had a buddy of mine on the skagit that caught 4 guys down on the river snagging some fish, two of em got rock salt in their asses....... 3 and 4th are lucky they got away...
2 for 4 odds aren't bad in my opinion.......
