Met up with fellow NWFR member, Ken, at Shilshole launch, about 6:30. Went straight out from the breakwater. Fished White flasher with Cookies and Creme Coho Killer spoon. 1st fish came at about 3 min. in the water. A very nice fat Pink. I see what people are saying about this years larger pinks. Other rod was fishing White flasher with pink hootchie. Usually a very solid Pink setup. No love was happening on the hootchie setup. Later on I was happy to fish some of that tackle that is deep in the tackle box, but does not get broken out unless you have your fish already in the boat. (Abe & Al large chrome flasher, with hand tied large pink streamer fly, following a Wiggle-Fin)-- nothing happened with that offering.
About an hour later picked up a smaller Pink on the Cookies/Creme Coho Killer. Ken had one on at one point, but came undone. We were a little surprised that the launch was as peaceful/slow as it was for a beautiful Sunday morning.
Most people were clustered at the N. can at Meadow Point, but we fought the desire to conform, and caught our fish in front of the breakwater. Fished caught at 45' on the DR, in 200' of water. Lots of fish marked, all between about 50-80'
Always great to be out here. Thanks for the good company, Ken.
