Boy, what a difference a month makes. Last month we could not keep the trout off our hooks. Friday we struggled to find the fish using the same patterns. I noticed a LOT of dead larvae skeletons on the surface and concluded that they had a major hatch over night. Fish were stuffed with black tar of digested insects when i cleaned the 4 we kept. They grew a few inches over the month as well. Most of the parasites that were prevalent in June seem to be gone and left some scars on the outside. Nothing found on the meat inside. Caught on a Arrow flash dodger with a fly behind it 18 inches.
Took the carcasses and put down our Crawdad trap over night until Saturday at 11 the next morning. WOW. Just an amazing amount of the mudbugs. Both local and invasive spiny ones. Kept 80 thinking that it would be enough for two to eat for dinner. When they were gone we were wanting more LOL
