Went out for a few hours on Monday afternoon. Fished across the mouth of the Clark Fork from North to South, then turned around and went most of the way back. I was targeting Kokanee, running two lines on riggers and pulling pink hoochies tipped with shoepeg corn. Running 1.5 mph and fishing 40-45 feet down. Staying far enough away from the Clark Fork river delta that I was in 200-250 feet of water.
Although I caught a handful of kokes, the real excitement was the two good sized rainbows. They both put up a good fight and were just beautiful fish.
The weather was calm and beautiful, the temperature was comfortable, and typical of this lake there were no other boats anywhere near me. I felt like I had the lake to myself. Well, my yellow lab and me anyway. Just a wonderful way to spend a Monday afternoon.
