Fished on Lake Sammamish, which I do quiet frequently. A friend of mine came to visit who loves to fish for bass too so I took him out on my little 12ft Smokercraft. We started at the south end, and fished docks on points for the first few hours, (we got on the water at about 8 a.m.) I was fishing a chatterbait mostly but only got a couple of dinks on a Ned rig. I had never fished a Ned rig before but so far I like it especially when the bite it tough. Since we weren't having much luck on the south half of the lake we drove up to the north end, and fished frogs. I had one fish on, but shook it off (I've also only fished a frog a handful of times, haven't got a fish in the boat just yet on one). Besides the bite I got on a frog we weren't having any luck. The fishing finally started picking up at around 6 p.m. where were started getting some bites, they weren't big, we didn't catch any big bass which is why I rated it a 3. My friend caught a 1.7lber on a small paddletail on a ball head jig, which was the biggest bass of the day. It was a very difficult day I felt, but I was trying mostly new lures.

However there was a huge highlight of the day! I was throwing the Ned rig at the north end by the Sammamish Landing and I felt a slow steady pull. I immediately was very excited and a little worried since I only had 6 lbs test on and a very flimsy dropshot rod. I start reeling and the fish jumps... it was a carp. I had never caught a carp before, and I certainly wasn't expecting it to happen then. After a few minutes of slowly tiring out the fish I finally got it in the net. We weighed it, and it came up at 14.10lbs! Not only that but it was foul hooked in the back of the tail. What luck! Anyway, it was definitely a God thing, that I was even able to land it. Hope y'all enjoyed the story!

hey what a heck of a day you had! fantastic report man, what a joy to read. i was out fishing sammamish with some people today. we had a combo trip for trout and panfish, however we lucked out and caught a few nice bass too! one was well over two pounds. the other was probably exactly two, trophies no. but on perch rods they sure felt like it!

awesome carp too! what a pig!
