In Chelan for the week. Did some prospecting Sunday morning for a couple of hours. Had heard at Hooked on Toys that the kokes were up towards Wapato Point. I did hit my first two up there, but wasn't marking as much there. The wind had been blowing kind of northwest to southeast, so I figured the plankton and the fish would be along the south shore... Bingo!
I forgot a box of tackle at home, so the only kokanee stuff I have is what I used in my talk at Puget Sound Anglers... so just a couple of Toni's rigs from Wannafishalure...
Worked depths from 100 to around 150 or so. Had down a Bloody Mary (dark red) and a Pink Squidy Thang tipped with Berkley gulp maggots. Had pretty consistent action with rods at 55 and 60, though was marking fish from 30 to 90 or so. Kept enough for a dinner, let two little ones go, and lost 4 or 5 more in a couple of hours.
Not the best picture of the kokanee as I tried to keep them in the shade and off the hot deck then back into the ice. The other picture shows kokes following the boat swimming up and down the cables...
Will probably try again later in the week, or hit some lakers... weather is hot and sunny!
