Persistence sometimes pays off. CF, Al and I headed to Banks for the first time this year. We launched at Coulee City and started on the East side flats pulling crank baits but only found weeds. Headed north to Million Dollar Mile and tried bottom bouncers with no success. Tried another spot Al thought looked promising south of Steamboat Rock still with no success. Since we were close decided to try Barker Flats which we never had fished before. There were several boats in the area suggesting there must be some fish.
We began picking up an occasional fish over the next 2 hours and finally dialed in a winning pattern. We consistently found fish in 20-24 FOW. Slow death rigs with green beads and motor oil smile blades attracted the most fish which ran 17-20". We ended up with 24 eyes which seemed impossible since we had zero after 3 hours. Maybe the bite just turned on for us today or our stubbornness finally paid off. Regardless it was another great day on the water with great friends. Sorry, no pics today after dropping my camera in a lake in northern Minnesota last week.
