We fished Sunday from 11 am until 1:30 pm. Trying out trout fishing on Sammamish for the first time. One line with DR and one with leadline. Both had a slingblade. The leadline with a hoochie and the DR with a red and white needlefish. Definitely got more hits on the DR at 22 ft. 7 colors on the leadline and only one fish to the boat on it. 3 fish landed. One came off on the way in. 3 hits and lost on the DR. Trolling at 2.6 to 2.8mph and when we switched to 1.5 to 1.7 mph absolutely no hits or fish. Anyone have feedback on that? Also, we had this consistently on our sonar in about 80 FOW. Anybody know what we were seeing at 40 to 50 ft. depths? I haven't seen anybody posting on dropping the DR down that deep lately.

The water is warmer so slow speed will not work on trout. Keep that 2.0-3.5 mph and see if that helps you out. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw someone else yesterday trolling at that speed also. And he was bringing a fish in. Are you using a dodger or any gear other than the terminal lure?

1.5-1.7 is working great for me... I can't get fish to bite when I go above about 2.3

What gear are you trolling with? I think speed needs to be matched with that to be effective, but who knows?

i was using a wedding ring... yeah trolling spoons you do have to pick up the tempo a bit. I have heard Coho Killers of all things actually work decently out here and with the trout being full of little smolts (or something) i may have to bust out the salmon gear and give that a try....
