Coho Salmon

I went up to my favorite river system today and slayed again on twitching jigs. Business as usual. I went 9/17 by noon, headed home early to put some salmon in the smoker. The wilds i caught today were all released with care. Visibility was around 3feet, overcast conditions until around noon. I focused on fishing slack water near bottle necks and logs in side channles and such.

The guys at the samish let it sit on bottom. I dont let it touch bottom at any point. There os a huge difference in method.

The guys at the samish use 3/4 oz lingcod jigs and let them sit on bottom with a tight line, then they wait for a fish to run into their line then set the hook. The fish doesnt bite it. They use their lines to snag fish. I cast and retrieve these jigs and in order for these jigs to end up in the fishes mouth it has to pursue and take the jig. Huge huge difference here. Night and day.

Well put Jon, those re some beautiful fish. I am going hit the cowlitz river for some coho. They also extended the coho season for us on the snohomish system until the end of November.

lots and lots of deer and elk up here. I see fresh elk tracks and droppings alot and i see deer all the time. I see moutain goat and black bear scat/tracks occassionally too. Pm me your email and ill send you some deer pics if i still have them. One day i actually stumbled on a herd of deer, i think 8 or 10 and i was no more than 20 feet away from a couple of them. They didnt give a damn that i was there either, they looked at me then just keep right on doing their thing, eating grass and what not. I did the same as them and fished, we all chilled there for about a half hour before they mosied on.
