4/15/2010 5:48:00 AMI have not fished for carp but I have talked to those who have and they prefer using corn. I do not know the setup they used. I have snagged a couple accidentally and it was a fun ride for sure.

4/15/2010 7:54:00 AMCarp are awesome fighting fish. Corn is the bait, although, on the east coast I've seen a lot of people use bread dough. Just make sure those are common carp & not grass carp so you stay outta trouble.

4/15/2010 8:04:00 PMTry wheaties or corn flakes and strawberry soda for your dough balls. May have to experiment to get the right consistency. Best way to keep on your hook is to use a treble hook.

4/15/2010 9:35:00 PMWadded up balls of bread or night crawlers have worked for me in the past. That's no joke. You simply take a piece of white bread, wad up a piece about the size of a nickle and gob it on the hook. Throw it out where they are hanging out, with no weight and it can be game on. Just let it sink slowly and sometimes they will come up and suck it in. They are a ton of fun to catch. On the other hand, when they are jumping they are usually impossible to catch. At that point the best way to get them is with a Bow and Arrow. Now there's some good old fashion fun! They really put up a fight if you don't stick them in the head. Don't pull them clear into the boat though. When they are jumping they are usually full of eggs and they will spew those things all over your boat. That's no fun to clean up if they get a chance to dry out. Good luck and Happy Fishing

4/16/2010 12:39:00 PMAJ's dad says exactly what I would have said. But I prefer the bread, not the crawlers. Wonder Bread, white. Use a #6 bait holder hook tied snelled to your line. Three balls of bread are best, but sometimes more.....just thread them up the line if you need more. Just like he said....no weight, throw it out into the fish and wait. Let the line take off a little before you cross his eyes. Then let him have it. But hold on tight........
