Just returned from an epic Eastside adventure with my sons and dad. We headed out at 04:00 for a 7 hour commute to my dad's hunting property in the Aeneas valley outside of tonasket. Our mission at hand was for my 12 yr old son to bag his first turkey during the two day youth season. When we were at the trailer during deer season we had plenty of birds in the neighborhood and passing through the property. We managed to bag a 4x5 monster muley and he bagged a whitetail doe for his first deer. When we arrived we spoke to our neighbor buddy Bob. He had great fishing g reports but the birds hadn't been around. Luckily, the ole man secured access for my son to hunt a Turkey farm!! The wild birds were becoming a nuisance and breeding g their heritage birds. He managed to bag a Jake and nearly had another. Sunday afternoon we took a trip to the similkaameen river to pan gold and managed to find a fair amount of the Yellow goodness. Monday we had reserved a cabin. At sunbanks resort to stay a couple days and Target trips on Rufus woods with a side of night fishing on banks lake. My son managed to catch a decent yellow bullhead and had an epic battle with a carp. We fished Rufus at the net pens Tuesday and Wednesday for fairly quick limits of trips for the four of us the largest came in at 3.7 lbs 21" the rest ranged from 1.5-2.5 lbs....Dandy orange flesh in most....An excellent trip that we will all remember! Hoping to head back for sockeye with a buddy in July
