I gathered up a small crew and fished Roosevelt yesterday on a beautiful summers eve. Great to have DownriggerAl aboard once again along with my friend Tom. Our cooler at the end of the night looked like a Burger King order. 6 whoppers and 6 small fry's. We decided to keep a few planter bows for the smoker and were also excited to see some smaller kokes showing up. Some hatchery and some wild.
I am fishing both Kokanee and Chinook right now, but I do have several dates available for this wonderful Kokanee fishery we have been blessed with. These fish should just be about at their peak weight for the season. I can accommodate both morning or afternoon trips. As you can see these fish will bite all day. If this fishery is on your bucket list, I urge you to act quickly and fish it before the big ones disappear when they spawn. If you join me I guarantee you will learn the tactics necessary to catch these fish all year long.
It was nice to see the fish aren't as spread out as they have been. Most marks seemed to be around the 72' mark however most bites came a bit deeper. Fortunately for me, the fish yesterday were all hooked quite well. On a couple of occasions I hadn't seen the fish pull free from the rigger. I grabbed the rod and tried to rip it free several times before I realized it was already free. It felt like I was still attached to the ball, but the fact was that the line now leaving my reel was a dead giveaway. Fish on.
Leave all the preparation, hassles and clean up to me. Come aboard and let's go catch some fish.
