Started at daylight on the mouth of the Sanpoil. White hootchies with garlic corn and chrome flashers, 1.6 mph more or less, as the wind was gusting, and 55 ft. Seemed to be the magic depth (today). I broke off two fish on the strike using 12 lb flouro, so now I am using 15 lb Maxima. Who would have thought that Kokanee would require gear that heavy! Finally hooked one more for the box, and quit at noon when the fish marks disappeared.

I suspect fish are dispersed now,just like the daphnia upon which they feed.

Hi bowlguy;
If you had three bites on 14th you are definitely the class of the field. I was there too and it was a very tough day for me. I'm a slow learner so have to give it another try tomorrow.
Do you feel your break-offs were because of the flouro, the release or 12#?

I had not considered the release. I did have it set rather stoutly and that could have been the problem. It is remarkable how much energy these big boys can muster, and I am happy to up the size of my leaders. They are not leader shy down at 50 feet anyway.
