I guess it was just meant to be one of those "Any day fishing is better than a day at work" sort of a days. Had a beautiful drive from the Spokane Valley down to Spring Canyon, the rising sun on the fields and towns made for some great colorful views. Seem to arrive at the launch about the same time the wind did. Tried fishing down wind and got knocked around pretty good. Managed one small rainbow and then eventually decided maybe we could hide from the wind up in the basin. Found at least a dozen other boats up there that must of came to the same conclusion much quicker than I did. Pretty calm up there but we just weren't "feeling it" and weren't seeing any fish caught so we decided to head up to Porcupine and run up the Arm to where we knew we could catch some rainbows and some Walleye. Or so we thought. Managed to put 3 eyes in the box but never had any Rainbow action what so ever. Sometimes it's just not your day. Guess we should have hung out at the basin and there probably would have been a bite later but if nothing else the scenery was better up on the Spokane Arm. My last trips down to Roosevelt were in April and early May, had forgot what it looks like when it's full. It really is a wonderful place. What a huge a varied fishery.
Stay after them, it's the right choice.
