Despite the unsettled weather this morning, my guests and I set out in search of more trophy Kokanee. They drove all the way from the Portland area to join me fishing for some of the largest Kokanee in the Northwest. The first fish bit just as we were trying to get the first rod clipped to the planner board. When the fish hit the floor of the boat, so did their jaws. Biggest koke they had ever seen. (At least this is what they said on every fish we landed). Any way I sent them home with their "wild" limit and a case of chromitis.
Fish seemed shallower today in the waves and overcast skies. Caught fish at 5-14' using dodgers and spinners today. Bright colors seem to do the trick. Leader length didn't seem to matter. 12-24" leaders all caught fish today. We caught kokes at speeds from 1.7-2.2 mph. THe faster we went, the smaller the fish. Largest fish today 20.25"
Thanks guys for a great trip.
