Two day trip, 7/28 & 7/29.

Fished afternoon on the 28th, lines in the water right at 4pm. Had 4 kokanee to the boat, 3 made it in the net, the 4th lost due to operator error. Debbie boated two one 15.5" and the other 16.5". I boated one 17", watched the other swim away, and boated a 16" RBT. The 16.5" koke was heaviest at 2lbs, 1oz while my 17 incher tipped the scale at 1lb, 15ozs. Nice footballs!

Wednesday started early with lines in the water at 6:15am. One in the boat within the first 5 minutes, nice 17 1/4" koke, then a long dry spell, not to mention a very surprising number of boats. I counted at least 8 all fishing in close quarters, made me think it was a weekend with that many boats. Not a fan of that kind of trolling and tired of no more hookups other than an occasional 12" 'bow, I decided it was time to move. Pulled gear and moved to a spot we had caught kokes at a couple years ago thinking it couldn't be worse than where we were.

Arrived, gear in the water, and in less than 5 minutes, I pulled in a nice fat 17.5" koke. As with our first earlier in the day, I thought we'd limit pronto, we only needed two, but not to be. Even though we had no company, and I worked through meter marks until 10am, we couldn't entice another bite, well except for the 12" 'bows every time I'd bring gear up to check bait.

Pink Apex was, again, the hot ticket for us. Depth ranged from 50' - 60' and trolling speeds of 1.4 - 1.6mph.

Called it a day just after 10am and headed back to Seven Bays. Not bad, 5 gorgeous kokanee in less than 24hrs, and a decent 'bow as well. We had to work harder, and longer, to get those we did and I now know there is an afternoon koke bite. :-)

I was one of those boats on wed. and the fish have slowed down considerably. Could have been the boats but weather change could have something to do with it. I also moved but ended up going back and getting our limits.

I wondered if one of those boats was yours Widebear but have never seen yours so didn't know. These are awesome kokes, nothing like grilled fillets seasoned with salt, pepper, and some garlic powder. It's what was for dinner - yum. :-)

Those look just like the ones my buddy and I caught down in the swawilla basin a couple of weeks ago.Had to stop at 2 a piece being they all had 1 too many fins.

Read in Thursday's S-R weekly fishing report that some clipped fin kokanee are showing up in the Spring Canyon area. If true, that should help expand limits. ;-)
