Long drive from Wenatchee through heavy fog most of the way, but a good day of fishing with my good friend and 6 nice fat 2# rainbows more than made up for it. We bank fished at Spring Canyon park swimming area trying several baits. Fished the same area 2 weeks ago using the advice of others to use coon shrimp. After soaking it in scent, it became so soft we had trouble keeping it on the hook. We did manage to get 4 rainbows that day. Went back today armed with several things, worms, scented orange marshmallows, orange powerbait,, green sparkle powerbait, and the shrimp. Both power baits and the marshmallows did the trick, nothing on the others. We use a line slider with 1 oz cannonball. Below the swivel is about 4 feet of leader and a #2 Gamakatsu Octopus hook. Have always used a stick or anything I could find to prop up the pole. Yesterday at Hooked on Toys I found these neat collapsable metal rods with a plastic Y at the top made just for this. No more stick hunting. Got to try out the new bucket padded seat that I got for ice fishing but there was never enough ice for me to feel comfortable on it, so used it here today. Almost felt strange not to be in a boat as we normally are, but was a lot of fun.
