Nice to see the WL site back up; thanks Mike and team.

The weather reports didn't look so good for this weekend and for that matter Friday either. It was supposed to be cloudy with wind picking up around noon. We decided since the wind was forecast out of the NE it was a good idea not to launch at Seven Bays so we launched at FT Spokane. As we came over the hill we could see the lake and it was glass! Put the boat in around 8:30 and there was only one other boat there.

Motored out to the bridge and started fishing across from Two Rivers in front of the bank fisherman and got the first fish right away on an olive bunny fly. Had the Kekeda perch and a the usual orange Rapalas out too. Caught the second fish on the olive bunny again. Then all was quiet as we trolled along until the first point where we picked up another on the bunny. The bunny rod was running at three colors lead line with 60' fluorocarbon leader. We also noticed the hits came as I slowed the motor from 2.5 mph to idle allowing the fly to stop and sink. They would hit at it several times and by now the rod was picked up and played back and fort to coax them into taking it; very different from previous trips!

We stayed in the mouth and it was a beautiful day @ 39 degrees and no wind! Caught the last fish (10) around 1:00 PM. Also noticed the bank fishermen were catching some fish too.

Tight lines everybody - Alan

Fine fat specimens Alan! I got an arm load of Kekeda flies from Dave Browning last week and had intended to shoot over to Roosevelt for a couple days, but my trailer brakes decided that I needed to stay home (!). I wonder how long the 'bows will be around?
When does the walleye bite start to pick up?

Rick, Gotta keep buying Tackle.
afk, Glad to help keep you alive vicariously.
Thanks Dave; they are really fat and thick too!
SnoKing, The bowes should be around although catching sometimes slows down this time of year. Still good this year though. We did talk with a walleye fisherman and he did good in the main river on blade baits. Said he caught and released a 10# hen. He kept a limit of "eaters" in the 16 to 20" class. I still like the warmth of the heater and top. rabid walleye fishermen seem to shun both!

Tight lines all - Alan

Thanks for the nice report Alan! My brother was here from the west side for me to do some maintenance on his truck Friday and then a planned Sat/Sun fishing trip, but the single digits and high winds kept us home. Even with a fully enclosed cabin the propane heater doesn't help much with 20+mph winds, gusts to 30mph, and sub-zero wind chills! Glad the winds were calm at Ft. Spokane, that area is well protected from just about all wind conditions.

Hi Phil, Sorry you couldn't get out. We really got lucky to get our fish before the wind and cold hit! They have sure grown since fall.

Are you headed up this weekend? We are going Friday. Alan
