We went camping at outhouse flats. We decided to fish towards porcupine to find a friend if mine I thought went that way. I like to try different tactics so I was using yellow side planer boards and rapalas. I was pulling a greenish black one size five through mud lines while dragging flies etc out the back of the boat. We were just down river from porcupine off a point on the far side of the river. Nice mudline. For some reason recreational boaters love to run over my planer boards. Happened three times this weekend. The third time they hit it, I looked, it straightened out and then the flag dropped. I pulled it in, and had a small heart attack. It was around two o'clock, sunny, warm, and I just caught a four and a half pound walleye. I was so excited. My biggest one yet. Maybe my biggest fish yet. It was beautiful, nice and golden. Needless to say I had to run through that spot again. Couldn't duplicate the catch though. I had to show my wife and friends, so into the live well and we ran back to camp. My friend was happy for me, tempered with a little hate lol. He is a good guy. So we filleted that fish and ate it that night. So good. I forgot to take the cheeks though. Next time. All in all a great weekend with great people.
