Hit the Arm on Friday with my buddy Glenn. Started working our way upriver towards buoy 5, occasionally stopping to jig some of our favorite areas. We caught a total of 33 for the day, most were caught jigging but we did pickup a few trolling down river with worm harnesses. After catching a few trolling we would drift and jig the same area but the eyes wouldn't hit the jigs, very much a reaction bite trolling down river with the current at 2-3mph. The majority of our fish were caught in the main channel in strong current. We tried shallow with no luck. We talked to another guy who we saw up shallow and he wasn't catching any eyes, only smallies and trout. Best color was red with a 4in pumpkin worm tipped with half a nightcrawler. Talked with four other boats as we pulled the boat out and most only caught one or two if any eyes, so we did pretty well considering a week earlier we got the big FU when we fished the same areas in the Arm. All the fish we cleaned, the cleaning station is open at Porky, were males (16-18in) except for one (21in) spawned out female.
P.S. It would be nice if this site could include a location listed as the Spokane Arm to better reflect where we are actually fishing. It is one of the most fished areas of Lake Roosevelt.
