Well with only 1 week left to fish for springers, I thought my chances were slim that I would get a chance to get some tasty upriver bright salmon this season. But last night my buddy called and said he had a spot on a boat if I could make it to the launch by 5:30am. Of course, I said YES! and met them for a shot at some fish today on the Columbia river.

After anchoring up near the St. Helens area we set out three lines and sat back waiting for the first bite. We didn't have to wait long before we had our fisrt drive by! missed it! 10 minutes later wham!
This one stuck! fish on! we threw anchor and chased the fish downtstream and got it in the net- a hatchery fish!

set the rods out again and had 3 more drive by's before we had another hard takedown and this one was off to the races! after 3 streaming runs it succumbed finally and we our second springer of the day! a nice 14 pounder!

so all in all, 2 for 6, a 12 and 14 pounder and spent a great day with beautiful weather adn great friends!
