Annual "fill the freezer before winter" trip for my wife and I. Smallmouth were 10-50 ft deep. Trout that bit were about 10 ft down. Lots of deep trout but everyone I talked to agreed no takers deep. Walleye were in 72 feet on the bottom. Not kidding: Every time we caught one the finder read 72'. Anyway, 4 trout, 4 walleye, and 55 smallmouth, 20 kept. Caught a couple on a ceramic homemade lure I'm working on, but the rest were on jigs and worms, seperately. Nothing fast, but fairly steady, and the temps are holding.

Nice haul! Looks like a great day on the water too. Better than cleaning gutters and raking pine needles any day. Glad to hear the trout were up top, I'm itching for an outing and it sounds like fall fishing conditions are here. :-)

Definitely. Fall has fallen! And the wildlife was everywhere. Saw over 50 deer, eagles, coyotes, and a male grouse showing off. My wife had never seen one so it was a real treat. The dogs thought so, too! If you fish Banks, and later want to know what is under the water in terms of structure, take your camera. It's almost unfishable. Not quite, but close.

Is this at Hawks? Nice report. I'm hoping to get down on veteran's day. hoping the trout bite picks up with the colder weather. Good info.
