Fished from 9:30 to 3:00 at Eden harbor. Fish were biting very light. If we could've hooked 'em we'd have been done by noon. Rainbow power bait is a new color to me. But, my buddy said it was the color of choice. And it was. I did catch a couple on sherbert though. I saw a few picked up next to us with a chunk of crawler on 24" leader. We were using 5-6 foot leader. So I don't think it mattered much. As I was waiting on Jerry to catch his last fish I talked with a couple of guys that had fished Jones Bay and came away empty handed. Once they saw Jerry miss a fish it didn't take them long to get their gear out of the truck. Soon Jerry caught his fifth and we were done. I rated the fishing higher to start out and then reconsidered as we both were fishing 2 poles. But, as far as plunkin' goes, this is the best it has been for me in a couple years. We started our day with the 2 biggest fish. I didn't single them out to weigh them but, the whole mess weighed 19LBS. One of these weekends that I'm stuck on call I'll Soakem' smokem' & can them. Mmm! Sorry, the pictures are a bit washed out on the ping pong/ fillet table.

Nice job afk, those roos. rainbows are fat and healthy, excellent for the smoker. We have been catching them off the bottom when we go fishing for eyes. Always a nice bonus when not even fishing for them.

Hey Dafishslayer, I'd sure love to get into some walleye while fishin' trout, Are you jigging your Walleye? And what part of the lake?

Well afk it looks like you definitely got the trout fishing down. Anyway we usually target the eyes in 30 to 60 fow, lately it seems we have been catching them in deeper depths 50 to 60. We have been using jigs 1/8 to 1/4 oz depending on the current flow, and staying on the bottom is key. The eyes have been pretty lethargic with the water temps being around 35 degrees, but the bite should pick up as the water temp. comes up. We use mainly chartreuse with some orange or pink on the head or skirt, and we usually fish the sandy flats. Look for bends on the lake and fish on the up side of the current where the fish don't have to work to hard to feed. Thats my take on it anyway. I have fished all over roosevelt and it seems to me the eyes are pretty lazy and don't like to hang out where there is a lot of current.
