It can be tough Al...At 5.6 mph I may have tried to hover more and back drift a worm harness through the eddies...a good flow is much better than dead calm...just a thought and thanks for your report.

I those conditions I would fish eddies coming off of point with a drop shot set up. Has worked in the past for me.

In both cases you were moving way too fast. 2.2 MPH is about 4 times faster than you ought to be drifting for 'eyes at the fastest. I usually do the "minute hand method" to check if I'm moving right for 'eyes. This means like a minute hand on a watch, you shouldn't be able to detect any movement by just glancing, but if you look back a little bit later, you'll notice you moved. That is how fast we like to move when we are doing it. That being said, to do a darn thing about it you'd need a trolling motor to basically "back troll" the current and wind. I don't know what you're equipment is like, so I can't comment. If you don't have a troller, next time the water is moving like that, try ripping a blade bait across current, or anchor up in the current with a spin n' glow setup and let the current spin the glows for you. Walleye are massively lazy fish, and will allow fast moving stuff to go right by unless you get very lucky.
