In trying to bring home a spring Chinook we fished the following rigs; one green fish flash with cut-plug herring, the second a lime green fish flash with cut-plug herring and the third rig was a straight cut-plug herring. Our herring had been brined, died blue and I added a shot of Pautzke’s Liquid Krill. All were rigged on 18” dropper loops and fished right along the bottom. Typically we fished trolling downstream but we did make one upstream run, switching out one of the herring rigs for a KwikFish. We did a lot of fishing, ate a box of Krusty Kreme doughnut holes and had a great time but came home with an empty fish box.
We made one run down the north side of the river fishing 30-40’ of water as far down as the I-5 bridge. Our second run was along the north shore of Hadden Island, starting up by the airport and again ending at I-5. For that run we fished in shallower water 12-20’. Our next run was from the 205 bridge downstream to the boat launch we made this run twice, once in 12-20’ of water and once in 30-40’ of water. Our final run was again along the north shore of Hadden Island, starting up by the marina but this time ending just upstream from the I-5 Bridge.
