I had a chance to do a short hike with my son last weekend and we hiked into a small lake above Wenatchee. (Not Beehive) I'm sorry that I can't divulge the name or exact location of the lake. We promised my son’s buddy that we wouldn’t let the word out if he gave up the lake info. After a short twenty minute hike we arrived at what can best be called “The Lair of the Tiger Trout”
Every cast was greeted with several aggressive bites and every fourth of fifth cast turned into a hookup. Tiger Trout are by far the most aggressive Trout that I’ve ever fished for and upon hookup these small fish go insane. Ultra light is the only way to go when fishing for Tiger Trout. I switched out the treble hooks on several small spinners and replaced them with single barbless hooks. We probably caught and safety released fifty or sixty 10 to 12 inchers in the couple of hours that we were on the lake. I can proudly say that we didn’t kill one single fish on this trip. It’s a little late in the year and the waters just a little warm for these fish to hit the smoker. Opening day next year will be a totally different story and I look forward to eating a little smoked Tiger meat. Also, the next time I head up to this little lake I'll be sure to remember the deep woods off. The Horse and deer flies were terrible.
